Breuillard estudou na Escola Normal Superior de Paris, na Universidade de Cambridge e na Universidade Yale, onde obteve em 2004 um doutorado, orientado por Grigory Margulis, com a tese Equidistribution of Random Walks on Nilpotent Lie Groups and Homogeneous Spaces.[2] É professor da Universidade Paris-Sul.

Recebeu o Prêmio EMS de 2012.[3]

Foi palestrante convidado do Congresso Internacional de Matemáticos em Seul (2014: Diophantine geometry and uniform growth of finite and infinite groups).
