Prémio para o melhor primeiro livro em qualquer género literário.

Ivan Sandrof foi um dos fundadores do National Book Critics Circle[2] e o seu primeiro presidente.[3]

The Sandrof Award has also been presented as the "Ivan Sandrof Award for Lifetime Achievement in Publishing" and the "Ivan Sandrof Award, Contribution to American Arts & Letters".

O Balakian Citation é anual. Honra Nona Balakian, que foi uma dos três fundadores do NBCC.[2][5] Por 43 anos, Balakian foi editora na equipe do New York Times Book Review (A Crítica de Livros do New York Times).[6] Cinco finalistas são anunciados em cada ano, um dos quais é selecionado como o vencedor da citação. O prêmio já foi chamado "o prêmio de crítica literária de maior prestígio do país."[7]
