Barry nasceu em Nova York. Ele fez sua estreia como ator aos 13 anos de idade em um filme de dirigido por Martin Davidson chamado Hero at Large. Ele coescreveu e estrelou o filme independente Friends & Lovers, que também teve grande elenco como Robert Downey Jr., Claudia Schiffer e Stephen Baldwin.
