Etymology

Uncertain. Has been identified with homonymous дийхк (diixk), дихк (dixk, “liver”), supposedly because of its internal structure — while decaying and drying out the tree resembles the liver in color,[1] but this is probably a folk etymology. Compare Old Armenian դղքի (dłkʿi, “maple”).
