жиза

Russian

Alternative forms

  • жизза (žizza) far less common

Etymology

A clipping derived one way or another from жизнь (žiznʹ, life). If directly, then cf. винда́ (vindá) < Ви́ндоуз (Víndouz) for the conversion to a class 1 feminine noun. Semantically however it corresponds better to жи́зненный (žíznennyj, relatable).

Pronunciation

  • IPA(key): [ˈʐɨzə]
  • (file)
  • IPA(key): [ʐɨˈza] (slightly less common)
  • (file)

Noun

жи́за or жиза́ • (žíza or žizá) f inan (genitive жи́зы or жизы́, nominative plural *жи́зы or *жизы́, genitive plural *жиз) († slightly less common; uncommon)

  1. (youth slang, usually as an interjection) big mood (a relatable experience)
