From earlier *roŋgə, from Proto-Mordvinic *ruŋgə, from Pre-Mordvinic *ruŋga, likely from Proto-Finno-Permic [Finno-Volgaic] *ruŋka. May be related to Moksha ронга (ronga), Finnish runko (trunk), Karelian runko, rungu (body).
