From Old Armenian թաղիք (tʿałikʿ), the frozen nominative plural of թաղի (tʿałi, “felt”). The form թաղիս (tʿaġis) is from Middle Armenian թաղիս (tʿaġis), the frozen accusative plural of Old Armenian թաղի (tʿałi).
