Etymology
From earlier *կաղթն (*kałtʿn), from Proto-Armenian *gl̥kt-m, accusative of *gl̥kt-s (whence dialectal կախց (kaxcʿ)), either inherited from Proto-Indo-European *gl̥gt- or borrowed from a Mediterranean substrate source; in any case related to Ancient Greek γάλα (gála, “milk”), Albanian dhallë, and Old Latin lacte (“milk”).
