أَرَادَ • (ʔarāda) IV, non-past يُرِيدُ‎‎ (yurīdu)

1. to want, will

   ‏أُرِيدُ أَنْ أَنْصَرِفَ.‎‎ ― ʔurīdu ʔan ʔanṣarifa. ― I want to leave.

   ‏الشَّعْبُ يُرِيدُ إِسْقَاطَ النِّظَامِ.‎‎ ― aš-šaʕbu yurīdu ʔisqāṭa n-niẓāmi. ― The people want the toppling of the regime.

2. (of an inanimate object, figuratively) to be about to
