- 7th century CE, Sunan Abī Dāwud, 30:2:
- مَن ٱقْتَبَسَ عِلْمًا مِن ٱلنُّجُومِ ٱقْتَبَسَ شُعْبَةً مِنَ السِّحْرِ زَادَ مَا زَادَ.
- man qtabasa ʕilman min n-nujūmi qtabasa šuʕbatan mina s-siḥri zāda mā zāda.
- He who acquires knowledge of the stars acquires a branch of magic as long as he does so.
