Etymology
From Proto-Indo-Aryan *kā́śatay, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *kā́ćatay, from Proto-Indo-European *kʷḗḱti, from *kʷeḱ- (“to see, look”).
Cognate with Proto-Slavic *kāzàti (“to show”). Compare चक्षु (cákṣu) and Proto-Iranian *čášma.
