Etymology
From Proto-Indo-Aryan *tárHati, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *tárHati, from Proto-Indo-European *terh₂- (“to cross over”). Cognate with Ancient Greek τέρθρον (térthron), Old English þurh (whence English through).
