From Proto-Indo-Aryan *túṣyati, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *tušyáti, from Proto-Indo-European *tus-yé-ti, from *tews- (to be happy). Cognate with Hittite [script needed] (tu-uš-ki-ez-zi /⁠tuškezzi⁠/, to be happy).
