Kannada

ಆಲಿವ್ ಎಣ್ಣೆಯ ಬುರುಡೆ (a bottle of olive oil)

Etymology

From Proto-Dravidian *eḷ (sesame) + Proto-Dravidian *ney (oil, ghee), meaning sesame oil after undergoing a semantic generalisation at the Proto-South Dravidian stage, also seen among cognates Tamil எண்ணெய் (eṇṇey), Malayalam എണ്ണ (eṇṇa). A similar process is also observed independently with Telugu నూనె (nūne) and Sanskrit तैल (taila).
