1. (IPA) Overstriking diacritic for a gutturalized (i.e. velarized, uvularized or pharyngealized) consonant, such as the 'emphatic' consonants of Arabic, or the 'dark l' (ɫ) of English.

• ⟨ˠ⟩ (velarized)
• ⟨ʶ⟩ (uvularized)
• ⟨ˤ⟩ (pharyngealized)

Precomposed characters in Unicode:

• ᵬ, ᵭ, ᵮ, ɫ, ꭞ, ᵯ, ᵰ, ᵱ, ᵲ, ᵳ, ꭨ, ᵴ, ᵵ, ᵶ

Note that these characters are not canonically equivalent to the base letters plus ⟨◌̴⟩. The diacritic ⟨◌̴⟩ should therefore only be used when a precomposed character does not exist.
