Possibly from Hokkien 玄孫/玄孙 (goân-sun, “great-great-grandson (in a male lineage)”) or Hokkien 阮孫/阮孙 (goán sun, “our (exclusive) grandson”)[1], via Lua error in Module:utilities at line 142: attempt to perform arithmetic on local 'h' (a nil value). Compare Tagalog Henson.
