Steinarr
Old Norse
Etymology
From Proto-Norse ᛊᛏᚨᛁᚾᚨᚹᚨᚱᛁᛃᚨᛉ (stainawarijaʀ), consisting of ᛊᛏᚨᛁᚾᚨᛉ (stainaʀ, “stone”) and a form related to Proto-Germanic *warjaz (“defender”). In some cases, the second part of Steinarr might stem from another root, and would be cognate to Old High German Steinheri.
