1. (politics) lower house, second chamber (e.g. the UK House of Commons, the US House of Representatives etc.)

   Synonym: zweite Kammer

2. (sports, humorous) second tier, the second highest league

• The German Bundesrat is not considered a parliamentary chamber. The Austrian Bundesrat is considered a second chamber, but the term Unterhaus is unusual. The Swiss Nationalrat is occasionally called Unterhaus.
