gresie
Romanian
Etymology
Uncertain; possibly a substratum word, akin to Albanian grihë, or derived from Albanian gërresë (“potter's instrument for leveling”). Alternatively, from a Slavic *kresь or *gresь; compare Serbo-Croatian kresalo, kresivo (“flint, tinderbox”), kresati (“light with flint”), kresiti (“set off sparks”)[1].
