Etymology

Probably from Proto-Uralic *kaća (young unmarried man). Originally meant "young", the sense of "main protagonist" developed during the Hungarian language reform taking place in the 18th-19th centuries. Cognates include Mansi хӯш (hūš, servant, jack).
