Etymology

Borrowed from Thai ข้อเท้า (kɔ̂ɔ-táao) ("ankle)" or Lao ຂໍ້ເທົ້າ (khǭ thao) ("ankle"), with each syllable meaning ข้อ (kɔ̂ɔ, joint) + เท้า (táao, foot). The meaning became corrupted to just mean foot.
