mușuroi
Romanian
Etymology
Uncertain. Possibly an expressive creation based on the Romanian root miș- (cf. mișuna (“to swarm, teem”)). Alternatively, linked to mișui or Slavic mesiti ("to mix"). Another improbable theory suggests Vulgar Latin *musaroneus, from musaraneus.[1]. Compare Aromanian mushuronjiu (“mole”).
