From Ottoman Turkish صیقندی (sıkındı, sıkıntı, anything expressed as juice, oil etc, temporary bodily inconvenience or pressing want, embarrassment, suffering)[1], from صیقنمق (sıkınmak, to restrain, to constrain one's self), from Proto-Turkic *sïk- (to squeeze, to compress)[2], morphologically sık- + -ın + -tı.
