Etymology
From Ottoman Turkish طومشوق (tumşuk), derived from Proto-Turkic *tumšuk. Cognate with Kazakh тұмсық (tūmsyq, “beak”), Kyrgyz тумшук (tumşuk, “beak”), Uzbek tumshuq (“beak”), Uyghur تۇمشۇق (tumshuq, “beak”) and Yakut тумус (tumus, “beak”).
