Possibly from or related to nyanga, from Mende nyanga (“ostentation; showing off”). Possibly influenced by Lua error in Module:utilities at line 142: attempt to perform arithmetic on local 'h' (a nil value). Compare Proto-Bantu *-yȧng- (“dance in joy”) and Kongo -yangalala (“be happy”).
