Etymology
Attested only in two passages in Chrysostom, in both cases in the plural ռայ-ք (ṙay-kʿ). Likely borrowed from Classical Syriac ܪܥܝܐ (rʿayyā), the plural of ܪܥܝܐ (reʿyā, “pastured flock”), which is related to Arabic رَعِيَّة (raʕiyya), from whose plural we have dialectal Armenian ռայա (ṙaya).
