From Greek μαγαζί (magazí), in plural μαγαζιά (magaziá), itself from Italian magazzino, with the ultimate source being Arabic مَخَازِن‎ (maḵāzin, “storerooms, storehouses”). Note also dated Russian магазе́я (magazéja), Ottoman Turkish مغازه‎ (mağaza).
