Chinese
Glyph origin
Ideogrammic compound (會意/会意) : 口 (“mouth”) + 十 (“ten”) – many voices in harmony. 十 (OC *ɡjub) may also act as a phonetic component. It is an ancient variant form of 協 (OC *ɦleːb) used since antiquity.
It was later borrowed for Lua error in Module:utilities at line 142: attempt to perform arithmetic on local 'h' (a nil value) because 協/协 (xié) and Lua error in Module:utilities at line 142: attempt to perform arithmetic on local 'h' (a nil value) are homophones in some varieties of Northern Wu. This usage was made official in Simplified Chinese.
Etymology 1
