pakuine
Veps
Etymology
(This etymology is missing or incomplete. Please add to it, or discuss it at the Etymology scriptorium.)
Uncertain. The morphology suggests that the term relates to a hypotethical noun *pakkoi which might probably have meant a plant used for colouring things in yellow, but *pakkoi is not known in Veps, Ludian, or other surrounding languages and dialects (Tunkelo 1946: 791, 805–807; SVJ: 396–397).
Akin to Ludian pakuin'e.[1]
